My mother and I watched it on Nicktoons and we're both still huge fans of the series a kid's not really going to care if there's less blood and profanity unless you outright mention it in my experience. The uncut version of Kai is a lot more epic, it has some profanity as well, though it isn't heavy.
If he were to watch dbz kai, he should just wait until his mother thinks he is old enough. As for the thread topic, the nicktoons version of Kai is really no fun IMO.
